In Memoriam Queensday 2009

Dear readers,

Today a post about our Queensday 2009.
This post I tribute to all the people who were involded in this tragedy:

In remembrance of the people who died and got injured last Queensdag 30-04-2009.

The 2009 attack on the Dutch Royal Family occurred in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, where a man drove his car at high speed into a parade which included Queen Beatrix, Prince Willem-Alexander and other members of the Dutch royal family; the attack happened on April 30, the Dutch national holiday of Koninginnedag (Queen's Day).
The vehicle drove through people lining the street watching the parade, leaving eight dead and ten injured. It narrowly missed the royal family and crashed into a monument at the side of the road. No members of the royal family were harmed. This attack was the first attack on the Dutch royal family in modern times.

In Apeldoorn there was a memorial about the dramatic events. It took place yesterday.
Queen Beatrix and Mayor Fred de Graaf unveiled a memorial commemorating for the victims around 16.20 hours. Then there was a moment of silence and then the people who were present laid white roses at the monument.

"Het Herinneringsmonument 30 april 2009" The monument was made by the artist Menno Jonker.

The metal box with granite lids is situated under an oak tree opposite the needle. The box contains some glass balloons. Seven white balloons were changed color. They symbolize the seven victims who died in the attack. Some other balloons have retained their color.
There is no balloon for the person which was responsible for this tragedy.

My thoughts are with all the people who lost a dear one in this tragedy.
My special thoughts are also for the parents and family of the person who caused this all. They lost their son which is as bad for them as it was for all the other relatives of all the victims who lost their lives because of him.
My thoughts are also at those people who were badly injured because of this attack.
They had to suffer a great deal.
The Royal Family has my thoughts too, they were very dazed by all this.

I wish everybody, which were involded in any way, a great deal of strenght especially today. Memory's from last year will make this day very hard for all of you.

My deepest sympathy for you all.
This candle is for you all

China Glaze "Awaken the Romantique one"

Hi everyone,

It is getting boring but how are you all?
I really do hope you're all doing fine.
First I want to say that I am looking at all of your blogs when I can!
I try to response whenever I can, sometimes I really do not have time for it all.
I really dislike that but it is how it is.
But I do love you all and admire your blogs! Please do remember this!

I'm doing okay, still very busy and tired unfortunately :-(
Do not have time for my nails and if the time is availble I am not in
a nail-thing mood :-(
Fortunately I made some mani's in advance so I can post something when I have time for it.

So for this mani I choose a polish from China Glaze.
It is from the 2009 Romantique collection.

It's name is Awaken and I love it.
It is a grey shade and it has a kind of gun-metallic look I think.
It applied well and I used two layers of it.

You also can use this one for stamping. It really works out great!

In the last few weeks I broke two of my nails. I was in doubt cutting them or repairing them.
This time I choose for repairing them.
I used some great silkwraps from Essence for it.
So easy to apply and it doesn't show at all.
At the Essence website you can find them:
This is what they say about it:
"everyone knows how horrible a torn nail feels… the SOS nail repair pads are true knights in shining armor for nail emergencies: when you stick them on the torn nail area and apply nail polish on top, they become transparent and can be filed into shape once dry"

It really works great and I can't even see the wraps on my nails.

But next week we've got a holiday and we want to work in our garden.
I think that it is not possible for me to do anything with my nails.
They are much too long.
Because I am not careful enough I already broke two them.
Can you imagine what will happen while I'm working in my garden :-(
So I am thinking of shorten them a lot.
Think that's better for my nails in this situation!
But still doubting......:-(((( Can't decide what to do????
Please help me!!!!!

I genuinely appriciate your visits at my blog and hope you will be doing this!
Thanks for being here again and I will see you next time.
I love you all.....sweet regards from me to all of you :-)

The Volcano eruption in Iceland and a nailcontest!!

Photo by Reuter, you can find it over here.

Hi sweet readers,

Well today again a day without planes :-(
Because of the eruption of the volcano in Iceland all airtraffic is forbidden over The Netherlands.
For us people.....who live in the neighbourhood of Schiphol it is getting used to the silence in our environment. It is so quiet!!!! No planes in the air, no stripes in the sky.....no sound of roaring engines above your head (sometimes it is bad).
Nothing, total silence........wow....
In my live I never experienced something like this. Living my whole live here surrounded by the sight of planes and their sounds it really is strange.

And all those poor people who can't go to their homes and beloved ones. People who have to miss the burials or births of family or friends because they are stranded here. It's awfull for them. I think of them all and hope that this cloud of ash will be gone very soon.

But our sky was looking awesome yesterday.
Look at this gorgeous photo.
I got it from a dutch newssite and it was made by a dutch guy Bob Kerssens.

The website you can find over here.

Now after this some updating concerning a nailcontest!!!

Lovely and sweet Kayla from Glamorous Glam Geek is having a contest.
You must make a mani inspired by this photo!

You can enter till April 22, 2010 @ 12am CST!
There will be two winners.

If you feel participating in this contest check it out over here!

Thank you all for stopping by and I wish you all a great weekend.
See you next time!!
Take care and love from me.

Herôme "Dublin Soft and Sweet"

Goodmorning/evening sweet followers and readers how are you doing today?

Already tuesday and an other day at the office.

Yesterday I had so much fun with my collegues about my nails.
They are always asking and looking what's new on my nails.
They are so adorable "my guys" :-))
The fun was al about winning a contest. Yes me!! Winning in a nailcontest
in the Netherlands. A Sally Hansen nailart-contest inspired on Brigitte Bardot
who stood in those days for a lot of glamour.
So the mani must be glamorous. They choose three of the nicest contributions.
I was one of those three!!!
I never win anything in my life so I was really surprised.
I won with my China Glaze mani which you find over here at my blog.

Secretly I feel a little bit proud.

But enough about that.
For today a mani from a while ago.
It's an other one from Herôme.

I can tell you that the Herôme polishes are all a bit thick.
So you have to use some thinner to make them a bit easier to apply.
For this one I used two layers of polish and apart from the thickness
of this polish it is a really dense polish and it covered my nails real
good.
And despite that fact I love them all a lot!

This is Herôme W.I.C. Dublin 64.
A lovely soft and sweet color. Not a prominent one at all.
So you can use it when you are having your interview for a new job ;-)

Well look for yourself!

I wish you all a great day or evening and hope to see you soon!
Bye bye and thanks for reading.

Karin
